If you're looking for an easy way to up your child's 5-a-day, get them to help you make these fruit ice lollies.
They're a doddle to create (you only need one ingredient – watermelon), and they're surprisingly refreshing, so they're bound to become a firm family favourite.
- Watermelon wedges
- Ice lolly sticks
1. Help your child insert the ice lolly stick through the rind of each watermelon wedge.
2. Pop onto a baking tray, freeze for 3 hours, then eat! Yum!
This simple recipe is a great way to introduce your child to the science of freezing! Ask them to guess what will happen when they pop the watermelon slices in the freezer – this will help them learn other key scientific skills, like observing and predicting results. For older children, try drawing and writing recipe card, so they can make these slices again in future.
